      Hi.
Im reading Pine bonsai in the temperate climate at the moment, very interesting and informative, I have a question regarding the fertilising, spring summer and autumn fertilisation all done using the same fertiliser??
Book implying a different fert is used in autumn, yet all say low nitrogen and high potassium and phosphorus fert used.
Can anyone explain this bit please??
      Cheers
      Ben

Fertilizing black pine depends on the stage of your bonsai. If it is still under training do not use a low nitrogen fertilizer as you want it to grow and achieve the stage you want it to be. On a trained ready to display tree is when low nitrogen fertilizer comes to play, just simply high nitrogen will give you excessive growth. Hope this helps.

And I was wondering why my bonsai grows so big…. It’s because of nitrogen-rich fertilizer, it turns out! Thanks, I’ll reconsider my fertilizer system. I’m still a big beginner after all 🙂
