Hi all, ide like you to meet Tiny(clearly not lol).. after collecting this 2 years and 5 months ago, I decided it needed some attention. The timber box was falling apart and missing most of the bottom and the soil wasn’t great either. Today it got a new box and some fresh soil. If anyone wants to throw some ideas at me, I have 5 days (shift work life) before I start wiring up. All good, Enjoy!

Lots of small dead twigs and branches cleaned out and some branch removal. Bit easier to see now. IMG_2507.JPG

Anxious to follow your progress. My personal feeling is to shorten the tree some more.

      Hi Adam

That’s better Piscaso has something to work with now, I think that he will go with the picture of it in front of the van.

I’m with Jerry I think it will come down in height.

For god’s sake don’t let Abdulla the Butcher anywhere near it, I think that he has just filled up the chainsaw

Okay Mark, I think like Jerry and JC it should be cut down to.
Looking at both sides, I think this is the best front so everything at the back gets chopped back to the stump or to the kept stump. The two at the lowest point of stump right hand side I have kept the front one removing the fatter back one if it looks confusing there.
Leaving you 4 trunks to work with, the even number dosen t bother me, but if worries you remove it, leaving you to the obvious 3.

If you look on page 131 of Leongs fig book there is very good example of canopy structure if you like….anyway maybe something there for you in the ink lol, I also am keen see your tree progress good luck mate.

I think Anthony W is spot on with ink in. Will look great when foliage comes back. Top job;)

Okay, I know there going to be some big chops. Can anyone tell me how big a cutting can be and throw out some roots? Ide hate to waste some of the big ones and was thinking putting air layers on instead.

Ficus cuttings of any size can root successfully given proper care.

      Hi Mark

If you were uncertain you could always air layer it.

Well I’m pretty happy with the cuttings. Out of the ten I think only one won’t make. Smallest cutting is about as round as a 50 cent piece up to maybe 10cm in diameter, should make for some interesting trees next year.

      Hi all and happy Easter!
I was just doing a browse through and came across my thread I started. Thought ide up date if anyone’s interested..
Anyway my design decision I went with was a cascade. One reason was, that I have plenty of upright style figs already.
Second was that really nice bend in the fattest trunk. I’ll get some recent pics tomorrow with leaves on.
      Cheers

Good job. But please don’t go down the path like I do creating long cascading tail. Just a thought from my experiences. But on the other hand a young guy like you, you can handle anything. Have a good one.
